A trucking business runs on a handful of obligations that all arrive on different calendars. We handle them in the order you meet them, from one firm.

The federal Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax on trucks of 55,000 pounds or more. Filed first, because most states will not renew registration without the stamped Schedule 1.

Who this is for
Owner-operators
One truck, your own authority or leased on, and no time to be your own bookkeeper. Your 2290, your books and your taxes in one place.
Small fleets
Several trucks, drivers on payroll or paid as contractors, and books that need to show what each unit earns.
New trucking businesses
You are getting started and want the tax and record-keeping side set up correctly from the first load.
What we handle
Form 2290 e-filed under our own IRS EFIN, with the stamped Schedule 1 delivered when the IRS accepts it.
Bookkeeping built around a trucking business: fuel, tolls, maintenance, insurance, permits and load income.
Records kept in a form your fuel-tax and registration reports can be prepared from.
Payroll for drivers who are employees, and 1099s for owner-operators paid as contractors.
Business tax preparation, and estimated tax planned through the year instead of paid in a panic.
One point of contact who already knows your trucks, your loads and your numbers.
IFTA, IRP and the rest of the compliance list
IFTA fuel-tax reports and IRP registration run through your base state, and they depend on records that live in your books: miles by state, fuel purchases, and what each truck is registered for. We keep the books in a shape those reports can be prepared from.
If you need help with a specific IFTA or IRP filing, ask. We will tell you plainly whether it is something we handle, rather than let you find out later.

Questions
Do I need to file Form 2290?
If you have a highway motor vehicle with a taxable gross weight of 55,000 pounds or more registered in your name, generally yes. The 2290 guide explains who has to file and when it is due.
When is Form 2290 due?
By the last day of the month after the month you first used the vehicle on public highways. For trucks already in service at the start of the tax period on July 1, that is August 31.
Do you handle IFTA and IRP filings?
IFTA and IRP are filed through your base state. We can keep your books in a form those reports depend on. If you need help with a specific filing, ask us and we will say plainly whether we handle it.
Should my drivers be employees or 1099 contractors?
It depends on the actual working relationship, not on the label. Our 1099 vs. W-2 guide covers the common tests, and we can talk through your situation.
Can you do bookkeeping if I only have one truck?
Yes. Owner-operators are exactly who a lot of the bookkeeping is for: separating truck expenses from personal ones and knowing what the truck really earns.
What does Form 2290 filing cost?
Our fee starts at $14.95 for a single truck and is priced by fleet size, with the whole table on the pricing page. The tax itself is paid to the IRS separately.
