Taxes are one date on a calendar full of them. Handling the accounting, payroll and filings in one place means you are not starting from zero at every deadline.
- January
- W-2s and 1099-NECs due to recipients and the IRS (January 31). Fourth-quarter payroll return (Form 941).
- March to April
- Business and individual returns. Partnerships and S corporations by March 15, most others by April 15.
- Every quarter
- Estimated tax payments and payroll tax returns, so nothing arrives as one big bill.
- August
- Form 2290 for trucks already in service on July 1 is due August 31.
- All year
- Bookkeeping, reconciliations and questions answered, so the deadlines above are a review and not a rescue.

Why Kay Accounting?
One firm for the work that piles up
Books, payroll and taxes usually sit with different vendors who never talk to each other. Here, the people preparing your return already know your books.
Support all year, not just at deadlines
Bookkeeping, estimates, payroll filings and year-end are handled on a schedule, so tax season is a review and not a rescue.
Built for small businesses
Owner-operators, contractors, small fleets and local businesses. Plain answers about what you actually need, and no pushing all six services at once.
Trucking is a specialty, not an afterthought
Form 2290 is our own IRS-authorized e-file service, transmitted under our own EFIN with prices published up front, from $14.95.
A person is in the loop before anything is filed
Whether it is a tax return, a payroll filing or a Form 2290, someone reviews it before it goes out. Nothing is auto-submitted the moment a form is full.
We say plainly what is ready and what is not
Payroll is a newer part of what we do and does not have self-serve signup yet. We would rather tell you that than let you find out partway through.
Getting started is one conversation
- 1
Tell us what is going on
Call, or send the short form below. A sentence or two about the business is enough.
- 2
We tell you what it involves
Which service fits, what we would need from you, and what it costs, before you commit.
- 3
We take it from there
The work is done and reviewed by a person before anything is filed or sent.
Common questions
What does Kay Accounting do?
We handle accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, business and individual tax, 1099 preparation and sales tax for small businesses and individuals, and we file Form 2290 for trucking businesses as an IRS-authorized e-file provider. We are based in Avenel, New Jersey.
Who do you work with?
Small businesses, owner-operators and small fleets, contractors and self-employed people, and individuals and families. If you are not sure whether we are the right fit, ask and we will say so plainly.
How do I get started?
Call 202-505-3437 or send the short form on this page. Tell us about the business and what you need, and we will tell you what it involves and what it costs before you commit to anything.
Do you publish your prices?
For Form 2290 filing, yes: from $14.95 for a single truck, priced by fleet size, with the full table on the pricing page. Accounting, bookkeeping, payroll and tax work depends on the size and condition of the business, so it is quoted after a short conversation.
Can I file Form 2290 online without talking to anyone?
Yes. Create an account, enter your business and vehicles, and a preparer reviews and files your return. The fee is shown before you pay, and it is separate from the tax you owe the IRS.
Not sure where to start?
Tell us what is going on with the business. We will point you to the right service, or tell you honestly if it is not something we do.
